Our first largish event was to be the Chickerell Steam & Vintage Show this from Friday 3rd July to Sunday 5th July 2015.
Our main objective was to keep up with the queues and not to sell out! Not an easy task with so many visitors many of whom wanted to sample a tasty wood fired pizza or two! We managed to just about keep up with demand and didn't sell out although we got close.
The whole weekend was a success, our fresh pizzas cooked in our mobile wood oven went down a storm as did a many a pint of cider. We served all the usual favourites including a Dorset Blue Vinny with Parma Ham, rocket & balsamic, a spicy pizza with an incredibly hot Naga Sauce (homegrown and homemade by Dan!) and a gorgeous Goats Cheese with caramelised onions rocket and balsamic dressing.
As we were there all weekend camping, we thought we would let loose our version of a cooked breakfast. Pizza for breakfast??? Not just any pizza, cooked in the wood oven this one has crispy streaky bacon, mushrooms, fresh cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella and is topped with an egg. As the wood fired pizza only takes 2 minutes to cook, the yolk on the egg comes out lovely and runny. After a few ciders the night before this is the perfect cure!
The show itself was amazing, loads to see and do for everyone. The music was great, cider amazing, food amazing too of course and the people were all friendly and happy. We can't wait for next year.
Dates for next year haven't been finalised just yet but we expect it will be the first weekend of July again. Don't forget to look out for us by the music stage and beer tent, where else of course!
